What You'll Catch Fishing in the Fall at Lake of the Ozarks

September is right around the corner which marks the transition from Summer to Fall. Some are disappointed as the Summer season dies off and the new season starts. However, if you have never visited the Lake of the Ozarks during the Fall it is truly a gorgeous sight to see. When the leaves begin to change in the Ozark Mountains, many will find that it will take their breath away. Even though a lot of the water actives go obsolete once the weather cools down, fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks is still a popular activity to enjoy. Find out what you will expect to catch at our fishing resort at the Lake of the Ozarks during the Fall.

Crappie

Spring is probably a more popular time to reel in a crappie at the Lake of the Ozarks due to the spawning. You will still find that you can catch a crappie in the Fall months. As the summer shad hatch, crappie will start feeding to prepare for winter. This is especially true for September.

You will find that our fishing resort at the Lake of the Ozarks is the perfect place to catch a crappie because crappie beds are maintained each year by harvesting local spruce trees to keep the docks as stocked as possible.

Bass

Bass is one of the more popular fish to reel in during Fall. When you take an October fishing trip at the Lake of the Ozarks temperatures begin to drop. As the temperatures begin to drop, the lake water temperature will begin to fall as well. As the lake water temperature drops, bass will begin to travel to the shallows for feeding as they begin to prepare for the scarce food in the Winter months. Bass will take well to the top water bait during the cooler months.

Catfish

Catfish is another popular fish to catch during the Fall. You will find blue and flathead catfish generally in the Lake of the Ozarks. Our resort is located on the quiet southeast end of Lake of the Ozarks which makes for the perfect place to throw in a line or many fishermen prefer to make trotlines for catfishing.

The Best Fishing Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks!

Point View Resort is the best place to go on a fishing trip. We’re nestled in the Little Niangua Arm, north of the main channel, where the waters are calm and the fishing is great. Being away from the main channel makes for a quiet spot on the lake and better fishing!

The indoor, heated fishing dock (with fully maintained crappie beds) makes every day the perfect day to fish the lake! So if it's raining or a cold Fall morning, our indoor dock enables you to fish no matter the weather outside!
